vCJD – Frequently asked questions for Dental Practitioners
Evening Symposium - Tuesday 2 March 2010, University of Glasgow
To facilitate an understanding of the issues relating to improvements in instrument reprocessing, a symposium has been put together by the Scottish Chief Dental Officer’s decontamination group to answer some frequently asked questions concerning vCJD and dentistry.
The questions will be addressed by International experts in the field of prions and prion diseases.
Learning outcomes for meeting are:
To have knowledge of the biology of prion proteins
To have knowledge of the epidemiology of prion diseases
To have an understanding of the infectivity of oral tissues and requirements for effective decontamination of dental instruments
