New registration rules for private dentists in Scotland

New registration rules are being brought in for all totally private practices (referred to as "independent clinics") in Scotland and they must be registered with Health Improvement Scotland by 1 April 2017.
Failure to register will result in the operating dentist being reported to the Procurator Fiscal service for prosecution. There is an associated registration fee of £2,475

This move will bring totally private practices into the inspection regime and it is expected to closely mirror the Combined Practice Inspection process used for those practices with an NHS commitment.
