Awards and competitions

We offer students the opportunity to win a variety of awards or enter prestigious competitions.

Bristol Dental School

Our Western Counties Branch awards an annual BDA silver student medal to an Undergraduate at Bristol Dental Hospital based on academic merit.

Manchester Dental School

Our East Lancs/East Cheshire Branch presents an award on graduation based on academic merit.

Newcastle Dental School

Our Northern Counties Branch awards a financial prize each year to one dental graduate. This is equivalent to the BDA graduate membership fee. It is awarded to the student with the best overall performance in the final examination and is calculated by the Chair of the Examinations Board from the exam marks.

Barts and Kings Dental Schools - John McLean Prize

Our London / Metropolitan Branch offers a £250 prize for the best poster case presentation.

This prize is open to undergraduates at both London dental schools who have graduated this year. The poster brief is:

"A poster case presentation of a patient’s treatment which required a multi-disciplinary approach."

The case report should outline alternative treatment plans and contain reasoning for the plan adopted. Radiographs, clinical photographs of the progression of treatment and other illustrative material are recommended. The final year poster of your case presentation is sufficient.

Please submit a copy of your poster by email attachment and make sure your poster is in readable pdf., power point, or word format (maximum size A0). Ensure images are compressed to reduce file size (<20MB). Other formats will not be accepted.

Email your poster to: Nazliimtiaz@gmail.com and pfdrymouth@googlemail.com

Please use your usual email address, home address and mobile number on submission, not that of your dental school.

The deadline for entry to this annual competition is 30 September each year.
