Title 'Dr'

This advice serves as a guide on the use of the title 'Dr' in dentistry.

The title Doctor is commonly used by many dentists. As with medical practitioners, the title is a courtesy one used to reflect professional standing and the role of dentists as healthcare professionals. Its use does not denote a doctorate or medical qualification but, as many countries issue degrees in dentistry as doctorates, the title helps to ensure that UK dentists are not regarded as lesser-qualified than their international counterparts.
