Opportunities for specialisation
To apply for inclusion on the GDC's specialist list, you must first be registered on the main GDC register. Overseas-trained specialists cannot directly register as specialists in the UK.
The UK recognises 13 dental specialties:
- Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology
- Dental Public Health
- Endodontics
- Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology
- Oral Medicine
- Oral Microbiology
- Oral Surgery
- Orthodontics
- Paediatric Dentistry
- Periodontics
- Prosthodontics
- Restorative Dentistry
- Special Care Dentistry.
