CBCT referrers training (level one)

The use of CBCT is becoming increasingly common within general dental practice. The European Academy of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology (EADMFR) CBCT training guidelines* state dentists referring for CBCT should have at least 12 hours of theoretical training (this course complements a six hour IRMER course to make a 12 hour CBCT referrer training portfolio).

Development Outcomes: A,C and D

This one-day course will ensure you are fully competent at referring patients for CBCT based on the EADMFR guidelines and satisfy IRMER training requirements.

Aimed at all dentists who refer patients for CBCT, this hands-on course will be led by a consultant and specialist led team in small groups to ensure maximum interaction and support.

Learning objectives

  • Understand modern CBCT dose
  • Appreciate CBCT selection criteria for endodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, implants, and periodontics
  • Gain further knowledge in anatomy
  • Understand how to use CBCT software
  • Be aware of the rules and regulations for CBCT referrals
  • Learn how to interpret reports based on BDJ CBCT reporting template**.

Course entry requirements

  • Six hours or IRMER radiography training gained within the last five years.
  • Delegates will be provided with individual laptops to complete the hands-on aspects of the course. An intermediate level of computer literacy is required.
