Employment law - the tricky issues

Friday 10 November 2017 | London

Learning objectives

Employment law can often be a complex and, on occasion, problematic area and there is increasing pressure for those responsible for the employing and managing staff to fully understand their legal obligations.

This one day interactive course will focus on the fundamental elements of employment law, bringing you up to date with current legislation and allowing you to be confident in developing your practice's policies and procedures. During the day you will participate in workshops to explore real case examples and scenarios.

  • Know where and how to access relevant and up to date employment advice
  • Gain insight into contracts of employment terms and conditions
  • Understand the steps to take when managing long term and short term sickness absence in your practice
  • Be able to manage parental leave and flexible working requests
  • Be equipped with the knowledge of how to tackle grievances and bullying in the workplace
  • Be confident in managing performance issues, disciplinary procedures and dismissal, including redundancies.
