Course format
The course will take place online, delivered through a series of five on-demand lecture sessions to be viewed at a time that is convenient to you, between Friday 1 July 2022 and Sunday 31 July 2022.

Lecture 1: An update on the regulations IRR and IR(ME)R 2017 (60 mins)
• Changes in the new legislation
• The important points for dentists
Lecture 2: Physics and dose limitation (50 mins)
• Nature of ionising radiation
• Interaction with tissues
• Risks associated with radiation
• Dosimetry and dose limit
Lecture 3: Selection criteria and quality assurance (60 mins)
Lecture 4: Interpretation and CBCT (80 mins)
• Interpretation principles and pit falls
• The benefits and use of CBCT
Lecture 5: Q&A session of previously asked questions (40 mins)
Post lecture CPD quiz (10 mins)
The quizzes will automatically launch at the end of each session
Speaker

| Paul Nixon Consultant in Maxillofacial Radiology, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital
Paul is Consultant in Maxillofacial Radiology at Liverpool Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, and is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Liverpool. He has many years of experience in lecturing on different aspects of Dental Radiology and is the author of several publications in this area.

This 'update' course is suitable for all dentists and DCPs who have already obtained their dental radiography certificate.
CPD

| 5 hours CPD In order to qualify for a CPD certificate attendees must view in full all five lecture sessions by Sunday 31 July 2022 (as detailed above) and complete the engagement surveys after the sessions to indicate a satisfactory level of understanding has been achieved. CPD certificates will be issued the week of Monday 15 August 2022 once attendance has been validated and survey responses reviewed.

Cancellation
All cancellations must be received in writing by email to events@bda.org. Cancellations received 7 days or more prior to a virtual event will be entitled to a 100% refund. For cancellations received after this time, no refund will be given. Failure to view sessions will constitute as a late cancellation and no refund will be given.
Please note: It is not possible to book/attend just one session of this course (and the completion date of midnight Sunday 31 January 2022 will not be extended).
Certificates will not be issued for partial attendance and no refunds will be given for failure to view.
