This session will explore current dental cross infection control issues – from the perspective of the whole team. The session will explore the dangers we all face and the guidance we should follow to reduce the risk and ensure our continuing professional compliance. This session aims to keep you safe from harm and the CQC.

Learning objectives

Following this session delegates will be able to:

  • Identify the cross infection hazards in general dental practice
  • Describe the individuals at risk and techniques to reduce the risk to these individuals
  • Demonstrate the use of HTM 01-05 in their general dental practice.

The speaker will:

  • Describe the latest recommendations for dental practice cross infection control
  • Identify the infectious diseases we most commonly encounter in general dental practice
  • Demonstrate the successful application of HTM 01-05 in our everyday professional activities.
Development outcomesC

Jason Stokes

Jason qualified from Birmingham Dental School in 1992. After a brief stint in Birmingham he moved to Norfolk. Since 2007, he has been the co-owner of the Cathedral Street Dental Practice in Norwich.
In addition, he undertakes a range of other roles including:

Dental Tutor (Ipswich Hospital)
Dental Foundation Training Programme Director (Ipswich Scheme) - since 2000
Fitness to Practise Panel Member at the GDC (2004-2013) and former member of the Council of the GDC.

He has been involved in local dental politics for many years – he has previously served as Assistant Secretary and Chairman of the Norfolk LDC.
