Although this is a free event for BDA members, advance booking is essential so that we know numbers for seating, refreshments and preparing named CPD certificates.

​​​CPD1 hour

The event will take attendees through the process from an idea for an article or paper through to seeing it published, especially in the BDJ Portfolio of publications. It will also look briefly at the history of the BDJ and describe the continuing transition from print to electronic delivery.

  • Attendees will be up to date on the many and recent developments in the BDJ and the BDJ Portfolio
  • Attendees will understand the publishing process for articles and papers
  • Attendees will learn how to develop an idea for an article or paper into reality.

Stephen Hancocks OBE

Stephen is a dentist, writer, editor, publisher and performer. Editor-in-Chief of the BDJ, he also co-owns his own publishing company Awarded Honorary Membership of the British Dental Association, the American Dental Association and a place in the prestigious FDI's List of Honour, he was appointed OBE in 1997 for services to the dental profession.

David Westgarth

David works across the range of BDJ publications, with editorial responsibility for BDJ In Practice and BDJ Student. He qualified from the University of Central Lancashire with a with a degree in journalism, and has previously spent time working in PR for an oral health charity.
