Save the date for next year! We are back in Birmingham 15-16 May 2020.
Are you still running the event that used to take place in Manchester in May?
No. The new event has replaced the British Dental Conference and Exhibition which ran for 137 years with eight of those from Manchester. The final event took place on 25-27 May 2017.
Why have you joined forces?
The British Dental Conference and Exhibition always got rave reviews. We have always looked to find way to improve things for our delegates. We believe this collaboration with CloserStill Media will do just that, providing members with the big date in the dental calendar.
Is the BDA still running other events?
Yes - it's one of our strengths. Our training and seminars continue to be in high demand. Most of our events this year have sold out. Delegates tell us that they value our quality CPD, indeed that's one of the reasons the Dentistry Show organisers are keen to work with us.
How did you make the decision to combine forces with the Dentistry Show?
Our board is directly elected by members who make these kinds of decisions in the interests of members and the association. They are dentists with a vested interest in building a stronger, more effective BDA.
How should I record my personal development plan (PDP)?
The BDA's CPD Hub provides a system of undertaking and recording verifiable CPD; it also includes a Word document PDP which is simple to use.
We do not provide an interactive PDP system as we believe that it is safer for members to keep in-depth reflective part of their CPD record separate from their PDP and log. The BDA prefers not to keep reflective details of members' personal development planning to ensure we avoid any danger of being asked to provide such information to third parties. We are aware that the chances of this are relatively small, but while ECPD is in its beginning phase, we will monitor how the GDC will exercise its right to view full CPD records (including implications for fitness-to-practise cases) in the future before we consider providing such products and holding such information.'
