The newly reformed and enthusiastic BDA CDS Group North East Division has taken the complex and highly topical area of mental health as the theme for its first study day. We aim to highlight some of the key mental health conditions that we will come across in practice and the challenges they can cause in providing dental care.  This will include drugs associated with mental health, issues with capacity, inpatient care, children services and self care.

Learning objective
  • Recognise some key mental health conditions
  • Highlight some of the common drugs used to treat mental health problems and their affects
  • Review the purpose and types of section under the Mental Health Act
