What does the future hold?
The
likely implications of COVID-19 on the future of dentistry and current
and future dental workforce
A recording of a webinar that took place on Thursday 12 November 2020. *Available on-demand until Friday 1 February 2021*
This webinar will help participants understand the implications of COVID-19 on the future of dentistry and current and future dental workforce. It will look at the future population needs and demographics and relate this to future workforce delivery. It will also look at how you can develop to become better dentists and how new technology can be used to help.
Complaints from colleagues, patients, relative of patients and staff will be an important part of professional life for dentists and DCPs. The speaker will discuss the simple things that can be put in place to prepare ourselves to cope and function, as confident professionals, with ongoing complaints against us.
Learning objectives
- Outline future needs and demographics of the population that we serve
- Discuss what this will mean to workforce across England and clinical decision-making
- Looking at quality and clinical outcome – how good are we and how good should we be? - will there be anything new to help us?
- Understanding complaints – how do we best prepare for the future?
About the speaker

Peter Briggs Consultant in Restorative
Dentistry, QMUL, London and Specialist Practitioner Peter was appointed as
a Consultant in 1995 and also started a specialist referral practice in the
same year. He qualified at King’s College Hospital in 1983 and worked in full
time NHS dental practice before returning to secondary care to do a Cons MSc at
the Eastman in 1997-8. This was followed by
various registrar jobs at Eastman, King’s, Royal London and St. George’s. He
won a Winston Churchill Fellowship in 1994. As a Clinical Director for 15 years
he spent much energy developing secondary care clinical services in South West
London (SWL) and more recently trained Dentists with Enhanced Skills and
introduced a Managed Clinical Network for SWL. He is past DCT TPD for SL and
STC Chair / TPD for Restorative Dentistry (Pan London). He has managed to publish over 50
publications and is immediate past President of the British Society of
Prosthodontics. He was appointed Postgraduate Dental Dean for London and Kent,
Sussex and Surrey in November 2018. |
