What to expect

Join the Bromley and Beckenham Section for their Christmas event! The evening will begin with a prosecco reception and welcome from Richard Graham, BDA President. Followed by a lovely three course meal and lecture from Richard Griffin and how his career as a Royal Personal Protection Officer developed from a constable and sergeant in the Metropolitan Police force to being Personal Protection Officer to HM the Queen. The evening will end with a raffle to fundraise for the BDA Benevolent Fund.

Learning objectives

  • Explore the similarity between the standards and values expected within the security services and those of the dental profession to their patients
  • Recognise the importance of clear and appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication between a protection officer and their client

Meet the speaker

Richard Griffin 250X250 Richard Griffin

Richard served in the Metropolitan Police from 1970 to 2013 when retired at the rank of Superintendent. From 1983 to 1986 he was the Personal Protection Officer to The Prince Edward, from 1986 to 1999 he was PPO to The Duke of Edinburgh and then from 1999 to 2013 he was PPO to Her Majesty the Queen, a position known as The Queens Police Officer.

Her Majesty the Queen invested him with the honour of LVO, Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order, on his retirement.

The BDA Benevolent Fund is a charity supporting all undergraduate dental students, dentists and their dependents, living in the UK who are in financial need.
