What to expect
A unique, online course combining on-demand and live virtual learning, to provide attendees with an overview of the current requirements and guidelines for CBCT and complying with guidance produced by the College of General Dentistry (CGDent) and PHE on radiation protection.
Format
On demand lectures available to view throughout April 2025, plus attendance at a live, virtual session:
- Monday 28 April 2025, 19:30 – 20:30 (Dentists)
- Wednesday 30 April 2025, 19:30 – 20:30 (Dental nurses)
Aims
Offering individual, tailored learning streams for dentists and dental nurses this course will ensure dentists who prescribe CBCT imaging are competent to request appropriately and will provide core training needed for dentists and dental nurses to perform CBCT scans.
Learning objectives
- Be aware of the differences between 2D and 3D imaging
- Understand the role of CBCT in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Discuss indications, limitations and risks
- Appreciate the responsibilities of CBCT referrers
- Be aware of selection criteria for CBCT imaging
- Recognise normal anatomy and common imaging artifacts
- Be up to date on the legal and ethical responsibilities as a Referrer, Practitioner and Operator.
Course requirements
- All attendees should have completed IRMER training within the past five years.
- Attendance at the live virtual session is mandatory for course completion
