What to expect

Andrew will highlight current understanding of how simple occlusal principles can be applied to everyday restorative dentistry challenges and will use patient case studies from clinical practice.

Digital, as well as conventional analogue approaches will be demonstrated and consideration will be given to occlusal goals for patients with natural teeth, dentures, bridgework, and dental implants.

Common areas of confusion will be tackled and when/if one might consider use of advanced occlusal techniques.

Learning objectives

  • Gain confidence in how to perform a simple and concise occlusal examination, risk assessment and diagnosis that can be used to help your treatment planning decisions for individual teeth to whole mouth dental issues
  • Improve knowledge of different techniques for diagnosing and managing broken down or cracked teeth and the decision-making process behind selecting different material and technique choices
  • Understand techniques for managing localised areas of tooth wear, including when there is limited vertical space to restore
  • Gain a clearer understanding of how patients with bruxism and TMDs can be managed in general dental practice, and the role that occlusal splints can play.
