What to expect

A one-day programme to help all members of the dental team renew, revise and refresh their knowledge on the GDC's 'highly recommended' CPD topics.

Learn and apply effective measures in the dental setting so as to reduce potential risk factors (to both patients and members of the dental team) and provide patients with high quality care.

  • Disinfection and decontamination
  • Medical emergencies
  • Oral cancer and early detection
  • Record keeping
  • Safeguarding

Learning objectives

  • Be aware of why complaints arise, learn how to deal with them effectively and prevent them in the future
  • Consider current changes to legislation in child and adult safeguarding and how and when to take action
  • Understand the importance of decontamination, how to ensure high standards are maintained and gain tips for improvement
  • Improve understanding of how to detect early stages of oral cancer and know when to refer
  • Be able to recognise signs and symptoms, and identify the initial management for common medical emergencies
  • Understand why record keeping is necessary and gain guidance on how to write effective records.
