What to expect

This event will review current oral cancer demographics, discuss the aitiology and risk factors associated with oral cancer and provide guidance on referral.

Learning objectives

By the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • To develop knowledge and understanding of oral cancer
  • To gain exposure to the clinical presentation of oral cancer and its differential diagnosis
  • To appreciate the importance of early recognition and appropriate referral of a patient with oral malignancy.

Meet the speaker

Jon Higham 250 X 250 Jon Higham Consultant in Oral Medicine and Chief Clinical Information Officer, Birmingham Community NHS Foundation Trust

Jon is a Consultant in Oral Medicine at Birmingham Dental Hospital joint Chief Clinical Information Officer at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

His clinical interests include management of complex mucocutaneous disease including oral potentially malignant disorders and the management of orofacial pain. He supports weekly rapid access clinics at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
