  • Clarify when specialist opinion/referral to secondary care is indicated
  • Discuss outcomes of clinical cases and the rationale behind various treatment plans
  • Discuss long term treatment outcomes.

Meet the speaker

Karun Dewan 250X250 Karun Dewan Consultant in Restorative Dentistry, Specialist in Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Periodontics, Dental Implantologist

Karun, as well as being a founder of RESTORE, works as a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Birmingham Dental Hospital. In addition, he is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Restorative at the University of Birmingham.

Karun has extensive experience in the treatment of complex restorative cases including management of tooth wear and the failing dentition. He has treated many advanced prosthodontic cases and has a keen interest in management of failed root canal treatment and provision of endodontic treatment of teeth with complex anatomy with both orthograde and surgical approach. His specialisation in all the sub-specialties of restorative dentistry, places him in a strong position to deal with patients that require complex restorative-endodontic and restorative-periodontology treatments. Karun has further advanced his clinical skills in dental implantology, in particular cases requiring significant multidisciplinary input such as dental trauma and hypodontia.

Karun has published and lectured nationally and internationally and has refereed papers in several journals. Karun teaches undergraduate dental students at the School of Dentistry in Birmingham and is a Clinical Postgraduate Trainer for Speciality Trainees. Hen has won multiple awards throughout his career. He is the current Chair of the Managed Clinical Network in Restorative Dentistry of the West Midlands region and current President of BDA Central Counties Branch.

Karun is a member and examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and also provides clinical advisory report to GDC.
