What to expect
Join the Epsom and Sutton Section for registration, networking, and pizza at 19:00, followed by a lecture by Maalini Patel on paediatric dental trauma.
Maalini graduated from the University of Bristol in 2011 with Honours and was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal in Dentistry. By subsequently working in various hospitals in the South of England, including Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, she developed her experience in several disciplines including maxillofacial surgery, restorative dentistry and paediatric dentistry.
She completed her paediatric specialist training at the University of Bristol Dental Hospital in 2018 and was registered as a Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry by the General Dental Council. She then completed her consultant training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in 2020 and was awarded the Fellowship in Paediatric Dentistry by the Royal College of Surgeons, London. She was appointed as a Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at King’s College Hospital, London in 2020. As part of this role, she leads the paediatric dental trauma clinic, runs a joint paediatric oral medicine clinic and provides treatment for children under inhalation sedation and general anaesthetic. She is experienced in managing medically complex children including liver patients and those with bleeding disorders as well as those with additional needs.
Maalini has MSc in medical education from the University of Bristol and is involved in the teaching and training of specialist registrars and postgraduate students. She is an active member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry, recently serving as Treasurer to the South East Branch. She is passionate about providing high quality dentistry for children in a friendly environment whilst instilling a life-long positive dental attitude. Maalini provides a private specialist paediatric dentistry service (including inhalation sedation) at Ringley Park Dental Practice in Reigate.
Maalini lives in Surrey with her husband and baby boy and enjoys running, swimming and travel.
