What to expect
Managing dental trauma can be challenging for the dental team. Many of us may lack experience or may be unfamiliar with the latest guidelines. It’s important to be proficient at managing dental trauma in the short, medium and long-term. This lecture aims to highlight the essential aspects of dental trauma management, as well as appropriate online resources available to the dental team and public.

Learning objectives
By the end of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Understand how to carry out a thorough clinical examination of the face, soft tissues and teeth
- Be able to make a correct dental trauma diagnosis and manage cases at the acute stage
- Be able to carry out appropriate clinical follow-up and long-term management
- Be aware of the considerations for prompt referral and referral to secondary care for long term management of high complexity cases.

Meet the speaker
Dr Reza Aryafar is a highly qualified and experienced Endodontist based in London. He received a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontology at King's College London in 2017, as well as Membership of Endodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He is registered with the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Endodontics.
Reza began his career in dentistry by obtaining a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from QUMS in Iran in 2010. He then worked in private practice as a general dentist before deciding to pursue further education in the field of Endodontology.
Currently, Reza works as a Consultant in Endodontics and is Adult Dental Trauma Lead at King's College Dental Hospital. He supervises postgraduate trainees in Endodontics and also provides treatments for complex cases and adult dental trauma patients. In addition to his work at the hospital Reza also continues to work in private Endodontic practices.
