09:40 Peri implantitis – a future time bomb

Aim

This session equips participants to diagnose and manage periodontal and peri-implant diseases, refer cases when needed, and treat peri-implant mucositis with simple oral hygiene techniques. It also covers the pros and cons of screw- and cement-retained restorations and explores new technologies to help patients maintain implant reconstructions.

  • Demonstrate how to diagnose peri implant diseases and the management

10:40 Making sense of patient behaviour: how psychology can transform dental care

Aim

This session will demonstrate how psychology can enhance dental care by helping practitioners understand and respond to patient behaviour more effectively. Through engaging activities and real-world examples, participants will explore how patients’ beliefs about their oral health influence decision-making and treatment adherence and introduce practical tools to better support this.

  • Explain how illness beliefs influence patient decisions
  • Recognise the impact of anxiety on information processing

12:00 Dental trauma assessment management and the endodontic consequences

Aim

Understand the epidemiology of dental trauma and how to perform an immediate assessment. Learn the classification of dental injuries and appropriate emergency management, including splinting techniques. Gain insight into long-term endodontic complications and case management to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • To gain an understanding of varying dental trauma injuries
  • To be able to recognize and assess the long-term complications of traumatic dental injuries

Aim

To outline the current list of oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and to discuss their aetiology, risk factors, clinical features, diagnosis and management. To understand what your role is and when to refer.

  • Know which conditions are termed ‘oral potentially malignant disorders
  • Be able to recognise oral potentially malignant disorders
  • Have a better understanding of how these conditions are diagnosed and managed
  • Understand which conditions should be referred for assessment by a specialist and the urgency of this.

From Cardiff Airport

By bus:
Buses from the airport to the hotel take about 50 minutes. You'll be dropped off within a few hundred meters of the hotel.
By car:
The hotel is only 24.7 km from the airport by car. Driving via A4232 is typically the fastest route.

From Cardiff Queen Street train station
The hotel is only a 650-meter walk from the Cardiff Queen Street train station.

From Cardiff Central train station
The hotel is a short 350-meter walk from Cardiff Central via Custom House Street.

Parking

At Radisson Blu Hotel Cardiff, our car parking facilities are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, it is not possible to make advance reservations for parking.

For all hotel guests, there is a parking fee of £25 for a 24-hour period and £10 up to an 8-hour period.  It's essential for all guests staying at the hotel to register their vehicle registration details at the reception upon arrival.

Please be aware that parking without authorisation, failing to register your vehicle, or not paying for parking will result in non-reversible consequences.

Public car parking is available as follows:
