What to expect
Every GDP should have a working knowledge of implant crowns whether they wish to restore an implant or not. This lecture aims at providing an understanding of the core components of a dental implant, the principle of osseointegration, and the necessary steps involved in planning, restoring, and maintaining a single dental implant. This is part 1 of a 2 part course. Part 2 will be taking place on Wednesday 10 September 2025.

Learning objectives
- Identify the core components of a standard dental implant and understand the basic principle of how it integrates with bone (osseointegration).
- Recognise the essential information needed from the implant placement surgeon to plan and execute a simple implant restoration.
- Understand the fundamental steps involved in restoring a single, standard dental implant, from initial assessment to final restoration delivery.
- Understand the importance of maintenance protocols for dental implants and when to refer for further intervention.
