Our tips for self-employed dental associates on looking after your finances:
Review your financial statements monthly:
Are you getting a monthly financial schedule from your practice?
If not, you should ask for one.
Make sure you understand your contract:
Make sure you know how much will be deducted for use of the surgery, equipment and staff, and costs for lab fees, hygienists fees, etc.
Ask the BDA to check your contract for free!
Look for issues before they arise:
Have there been delays in your payments, are lab bills being left unpaid, are unexplained cutbacks happening in your practice?
Raise any issues with your practice owner now, and document your conversations in writing.
