Northern Ireland dentists: changes to CPD allowance claim
3 April 2019
The BDA is alerting GDS dentists in Northern Ireland that there is now a new system for claiming CPD allowance, which applies to courses attended from 1 April 2018 onwards, and must be submitted to the Business Services Organisation before 30 June 2019.
You must now submit a single annual claim for all CPD allowance for the 2018-2019 financial year, via a CPDA form, along with a DA1 form – both are available from the BSO website.
Allowance rates and sessions
Allowance rates are £118.25 for a half session of between 1 hour and up to 2 hours, or £236.50 for a full session of more than 2 hours and up to 3.5 hours - less any abatement where the percentage of Health Service earnings is below 85% of total earnings.
A maximum of x6 approved sessions of between 2 and 3.5 hours, or equivalent, are payable in any financial year, to a maximum of £1,418.00.
According to the rules set out in the SDR, only x3 on-line sessions may be claimed per year (April to March).
