What we know so far

We are aware of concerns about university finances at some institutions and the impact this might have on jobs. Members are understandably worried but we have no confirmation that dental teaching roles are affected at this stage.

There is uncertainty about how job losses in universities will go on to affect the provision of BDS teaching; job losses elsewhere in tertiary education are likely to result in rationalisation of support for academics on the front line with students.

What we are doing

We are knocking on the doors of HR teams at schools to represent your interests, and engaging with the profession via our Dental Academic Staff Committee which is elected to campaign on your behalf.
